Girl in Piano Class
Fernando Piano Program

A gift from the Fernando Family of $50,000 in 2012 in memory of Laura Mahnil Fernando, supported the creation of an after-school keyboard program in Title 1 Schools (schools that draw students from economically disadvantaged families).  Elementary schools provide small group keyboard lessons twice a week held in their after-school programs. Depending on the center, up to 28 students may be enrolled at each site. Several sites have incorporated keyboards into their school day classes.

Learning Elementary to Advanced Piano

Thanks to the generosity of longtime MFGN Supporters Anne Roberts & Myra Williams, the LEAP Scholarship  enables gifted and motivated students from economically disadvantaged families 8 to 14 years of age to achieve the intellectual and social benefits of learning to play the piano.  Some of our students in the LEAP program 'graduate' from the Fernando program, which affords the chance to continue piano studies for promising students of need.  This gift was made possible by the generosity of long time MFGN Friends, Anne Roberts and Myra Williams..
