Just as Schubert’s short piano pieces by the name of Moments musicaux have tremendous appeal, so will the pieces selected by talented members of the Naples Music Club touch the hearts of their listeners with their beauty and eloquence or dazzle them with their energy and exuberance. Strings, woodwinds, brass, vocalists and piano will be represented in this recital.

Open to the public at no charge. Donations will benefit the Naples Music Club Scholarship Fund.

Members, their guests, and friends of the Naples Music Club are invited  to attend this annual, convivial holiday dinner to be held at one of the area’s finest clubs. Entertainment will be provided by outstanding student musicians to whom we give awards each year, making this an event featuring both superb performances and exceptional  camaraderie.

$50 per person. Cash bar. Space is limited to 200, with members receiving priority. Invitations, including a response form, will be mailed to members in early November and is also posted here.

The Naples Music Club is pleased to announce their sponsorship of an exciting Rachmaninoff Festival that will be held late Friday afternoon, February 15, and all day on February 16.

The Festival, chaired by Naples Music Club director, concert pianist, and Rachmaninoff afficionada Anne McLean, will feature a happy mix of performances of best-loved Rachmaninoff solos and duos performed by acclaimed musicians and presentations by scholars renowned in their fields. Performers will include Michael Berkovsky, Richard Bosworth, Kristie Born, Alexandra Carlson, Rose Grace, Carl Ratner, Adam Satinsky and Howard Shelley, with a special lecture demonstration. Mr. Shelley will be the guest soloist at the Phil the same weekend. Those giving presentations will be musicologist Dr. David Cannata, who will speak about Rachmaninoff’s American tour of 1909-10, and Russian piano teacher Dr. Eda Shlyam, who will share her perspective on Russia during the time of Rachmaninoff’s life.

With its superb grand pianos and fine acoustics, Euro Pianos Naples, 975 Imperial Golf Course Boulevard, Naples, will be the Festival’s intimate venue.

Internationally renowned pianist Ilya Itin and Maestro William Noll are planning an extraordinary evening in order to benefit the Naples Music Club’s Scholarship Fund. This is Mr. Itin’s only appearance in Naples this season. The dynamic duo will explore the magical mysteries of Chopin’s 24 Preludes. This memorable event, to be held in Maestro Noll’s vibrant music salon, will be followed by a champagne reception.

Hear the Seacrest Singers from Seacrest Country Day School, conducted by Naples favorite Jodie DeSalvo, and the Bay Singers, conducted by retired Interlochen Director Bruce Galbraith, in a combined choral concert. Their grand finale will feature both choirs (90 singers) conducted by Mr. Galbraith with Jodie DeSalvo at the piano and Bay Singers’s keyboardist Cindy Dallas on the First Methodist Allen Renaissance organ.

Our special “Day at FGCU” this year will feature coaching sessions of ensembles and duos, a lecture on “Music and Aging” with Professor Louise Patrick from Healing at the Speed of Sound by Campbell & Doman, a picnic box lunch at the nearby Art School and preview of the annual juried Student Art Exhibition opening that evening. a lecture by new School of Music Director Cathy Albergo titled “Vision for the Future,” a Chamber Choir Rehearsal, a Symphonic Band Rehearsal, and a “Celebration of the Arts” recital featuring student chamber ensembles. The cost is $40 per person and includes lunch. Attendance is limited, with members receiving priority.

Directions to FGCU:

From the north: Take I-75 South to Exit 128, Alico Road. Go east (left) on Alico Road for half a mile. Go south (right) on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway for two miles. Turn left at the stoplight at the main FGCU entrance.

From the south: Take I-75 North to  Exit 123, Corkscrew Road. Go east (right) on Corkscrew Road for half a mile. Turn north (left) on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway; go three miles to FGCU entrance. Note: If coming from Three Oaks Parkway, a new extension of Estero Parkway provides an overpass that links the road from Three Oaks Parkway to Ben Hill Griffin Parkway. One traffic light to the north on Ben Hill Griffin Parkway is the main entrance to the FGCU campus.

When you arrive at the entrance to FGCU, go to the stop sign and turn right. then left at the second stop sign. The Bower School of Music will be on your immediate right. Parking is available in the lot on  your right or the garage on the left. There is also handicapped parking and a drop-off area at the school’s entrance.

This prestigious competition, which has taken place since 1970, is for competitors and contest officials only.

Directions to Golden Gate High School: From Rt. 41 in Naples, take Golden Gate Parkway east to I-75. Merge onto I-75 S towards Miami. Take Exit 101 for CR-951 toward Marco Island/Naples. Keep in left hand lane. Turn left onto CR-951 N/Golden Gate. Continue past the ramp leading to I-75 north. In .5 mile turn left at a traffic light onto Magnolia Pond Drive. Golden Gate High School will be .7 mile on your right. Alternately, if you prefer not to use I-75, take Golden Gate Parkway East to CR-951/Collier Blvd. Turn right. Watch for Magnolia Pond Dr., which will be .5 mile short of the I-75 interchange on your right. Continue as above to the school. Park around to the left of  the auditorium, which is on the west end of the school complex.
